PHILOSOPHY AND PURPOSE

We believe that Christian education ministers not just to the academic needs of the child, but also to their spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs.

 In order to provide students with a complete, well-rounded program, St. Paul Lutheran School believes that athletics are an important tool in teaching children to make use of their God-given talents, skills, and abilities. Considering time, facilities, and coaches, we strive to provide the opportunity for our students to pursue athletic activities. Full utilization and development of God-given talents and a positive Christian attitude remain the motivation for our athletic program.

•  Volleyball - Girls
•  Volleyball - Boys
•  Track: 1st – 8th grades -- no fee

All sports are open to grades 5-8. As numbers permit, we try to field 5/6 and 7/8 grade teams.
 If we do not have sufficient athletes to fill a team, the opportunity will be offered the 4th grade students to participate.

The student/athletes usually compete in two basketball tournaments and one volleyball tournament. 

MUSIC PROGRAM

St. Paul Lutheran School is proud to offer band as part of its music program. Students in grades 5 through 8 are given the opportunity to be a part of this group. These students also receive a private instrumental lesson once a week with Mr Ben McCartney, the school band director. Both the beginning and advanced bands will perform at the school Christmas program and at 8th grade graduation, as well as participating in the Lutheran Music Festival and solo ensemble. Each year, select students are chosen to participate in the Karl King Honor Band. This year, students of all ages are also being given the opportunity to play stringed instruments. If interested in taking lessons – violin, viola, cello, or string bass - and joining a string ensemble, please contact the school office. Even very young, pre-school age children are encouraged to consider this.

Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa

Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa offers both Brownie (grades 2-3) and Junior (grades 4-5) troops at St. Paul.  They meet together the 1st Friday of every month from 3-5 p.m.

Through the scouting program young girls get to share their faith in God, make new friends, help plan troop activities, share ideas with one another, practice new skills, experience new adventures, and go exploring.  If your daughter is interested in getting together with friends to share, plan, play, laugh, and learn, please contact one of the troop leaders:  Dianne Sporrer at This email address is being protected from spambots.
